Pistachio Whole Peeled Organic
What is Pistachio?
The pistachio (Pistacia vera) is a small tree of the wigwam family (Anacardiaceae). It is related to the cashew. The largest production centres of pistachio are Turkey, Iran and the US. The less common name is pimper nut. The plant is also called "real pistachio" to distinguish it from other (wild) species of the same genus. The pistachio is native to Asia, but is widely cultivated in Europe for its edible green seeds, which are also processed in such ice cream.
Healthy properties Pistachio and applications
Pistachios consist of almost half fat and 20 percent protein, and also contain phosphorus and the minerals magnesium, iron, zinc and calcium. Vitamin B1 is also abundantly present.
Process of Pistachios
Our organic pistachios are delivered without shells. After harvesting, the shells are removed. Empty and not split shells are separated from the split shells. The pistachio nuts with split shells are sorted by colour, defects and pieces are removed and finally they are shelled.
How are pistachio nuts used?
As mentioned before pistachio nuts are mainly eaten as they are, either natural, roasted and salted. Also pistachio nuts are processed in many dishes, including ice cream, pistachio butter, pistachio paste, baklava and mortadella.
