The Goji Berry (Goji tree)
The Goji berries originate from East Asia. In the Netherlands it has the naa boksdoorn or red medlar. The berries have an orange-red colour. The berries have a diameter of 1,5-2cm. The berry grows on the Lycium barbarum bush, which grows about 3 metres high. Goji berries are sold in dried form, which makes them look a bit like sultanas, but in red.
How do you consume goji berries?
These sweet berries can be put through your yoghurt or oatmeal, added to salads or eaten separately as a snack. You can also make goji tea by soaking the berries in hot water/spice tea for 5-10 minutes.
