What is Ramson?
The plant grows in the temperate regions of Europe up to the Caucasus. It is enormously popular in Germany. The taste of Ramson lies between mild chives and strong garlic. The plant flowers from April to June, sometimes until July. After July, the above ground part of the plant disappears completely and only the underground flower bulb remains.
The many uses of Ramson
The leaves of the Ramson plant can be used in soups and salads, with vegetables and in cottage cheese and plain cheese. With some olive oil, Ramson can also be used in pesto instead of basil. Or use Ramson in aioli and vinaigrettes.
Want to enjoy the taste of garlic, but not get stuck with bad breath?
Nice fact: although Ramson taste like garlic, it lacks the component that causes bad breath in garlic.
