This is how oat flakes are made

• Cleaning
  First the oat grains are washed and cleaned.
• Peeling
  Then the kernels are peeled.
• Cut into pieces
  Once peeled, the flakes are cut . This simplifies the making of flakes later on.
• Steam treatment
  The oat pieces are then steam treated.
• Rolling into flakes strong>
  Then the granules are pressed through a roller press, so that they come out as flakes on the other side.
• Drying and cooling and filtering
  Finally, the flakes are dried, cooled and sieved, after which they can be packaged.

Oat flakes are easier and faster to prepare when cooking than whole oat grains. And also easier to digest. These are important reasons why oat flakes are so popular.
