With harad seeds and charcoal
Kala Namak is also known as Indian Black Salt. The salt is extracted from the mountains in the hymalaya range of India. The natural salt is not refined and no iodine is added. However, the salt is heated in an oven together with harad seeds and charcoal. The chemical reactions that occur in this process give the Kala Namak salt its dark colour and typical taste. Once cooled, the kala namak salt is ground, after which little of the black colour remains.
Application Kala Namak
This salt is very popular among vegans. The rock salt has a smell and taste reminiscent of boiled eggs due to its sulfurous properties. This allows vegans to add the taste of eggs to a dish without using a real egg. In this way, you can use it as an egg substitute in vegan mayonnaise or with tofu. Kala Namak is also widely used as an addition to curries, chutneys, fruit salads or raitas and sprinkled on fried dishes. It also goes very well with chicken and rice dishes.
