Alpine salt

250 million years ago there was a primeval ocean on the site of the Alps. Due to climatic and geological changes, the ocean dried up. During the formation of the Alps, sea salt formed deep in the mountains. This led to what we now know as alpine salt. Because it is trapped in the mountains, it has had no impact on the environment. Mountain men harvest from only the purest natural layers of salt. The mountain core of the Alps where the best salt comes from is called the Salzkammergutes.


Alpine salt has a very intense strong taste which fits perfectly with dark meats.
