Holyflavours Coconut Oil RBD Organic 500 ml
Origin of the Coconut
The coconut (Cocos nucifera) comes from the coconut palm. Coconut palms grow mainly in tropical countries. The fruit of the coconut is found in a green husk. After the removal of the green part, what remains is the hairy, brown and wooden nut. The brown ball has a diameter of 10 to 15 centimetres and contains the white flesh. Coconuts were first cultivated in Southeast Asia and today most coconuts come from Indonesia, Filepines and India.

Production process RBD Coconut Oil
The flesh of the coconut has a sweet, nutty taste. Some people do not like that, but still want to use the good properties of coconut oil in cooking. That is why RBD coconut oil is made. The coconut oil is pressed from the dried flesh of the coconut. The term RBD stands for Refined, Bleached, Deodorized. Refining is the degumming of the oil. Our RBD coconut oil is degummed using citric acid. The oil then undergoes a pressurised steam treatment at 220°C for 4 hours, so that the oil is bleached and deodorised. In this way, the oil loses some of its good nutrients, but what remains is still a very healthy cooking oil without taste or smell.
Use of Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has a high saturated fat content and therefore remains stable. This makes coconut oil very suitable for baking, frying or deep-frying. Coconut oil can also serve as a substitute for (cream) butter in various sweet dishes or for making (chocolate) glaze.
