What is extra virgin coconut oil?

Extra virgin coconut oil is pressed from the flesh of fresh coconuts. It has a fatty structure. The white fat becomes liquid at temperatures from 25 degrees. Comparing organic coconut oil with another natural product is almost impossible. Sometimes the smell is imitated artificially (and chemically), but nothing beats the original. In our case, the organic coconut oil is unrefined. Unrefined coconut oil still has that typical coconut smell.

Coconut meat is ground and dried

To obtain unrefined coconut oil the outer nut and the brown skin around the white meat are first removed from coconuts. The meat is then ground or grated into fine grains and dried. During the drying process, care is taken to ensure that the temperature does not exceed 60 degrees. If the temperature is too high, important nutrients are lost. No chemical processes or additives are used in this process either.

Cold pressed

When the coconut grains are dry they are collected in a large cold press, which squeezes the oil out of the grains. Here too the temperatures are limited.

Filtering

Finally the oil is filtered in a series of filters. This yields clear fresh virgin coconut oil.

Coconut oil extra virgin is particularly popular, and for obvious reasons. The fat of coconut oil vierge has a very different structure and composition than fat you find in frying snacks or in dairy and meat. Coconut oil contains many healthy fats. Coconut oil consists of numerous saturated fatty acids, such as lauric acid and palmitic acid. Coconut oil also contains many plant sterols. Plant sterols, also called phytosterols.

In a short time extra virgin coconut oil has become one of the most popular oils in the world. Organic coconut oil can be used in countless ways: processed in dishes, or for example as a relaxing massage oil. The oil is all edible, but does not necessarily have to be eaten: it can also be used to nourish the hair.
