Sugar vs The Human Body

Un-refined sugar

The unrefined sugar is sugar or sucrose in its natural form, it is still (almost) unrefined (cleaned) in the factory. Refined sugar contains the naturally present fibres, minerals, enzymes and vitamins. As we have explained before, glucose is made during the digestion of every form of sugar (including the unrefined form). To convert this into energy, insulin is needed, the so-called insulin reaction. So also unrefined sugars have adverse effects.

Glucose essential

In order to be able to supply energy every day, the body needs fuel in the form of glucose, among other things. This fuel is supplied by carbohydrates, a collective name for sugars and starches. Our body is best off with natural carbohydrates, which enter the body through a balanced diet of preferably unprocessed natural nutrients. In such a diet, sugars added to the diet are superfluous or even very harmful.

The body receives sufficient carbohydrates and natural fruit sugars in a balanced diet

In general, refined sugar and refined white flour products such as white pasta, white flour, white rice or white bread are less healthy for the human body.

Alternative carbohydrates

Good alternatives to white flour products are wholemeal products. In addition, there are good alternatives for people who cannot live without a sweet taste in food and drink. A suitable alternative natural sweetener is stevia extract. In the next post, the benefits of stevia will be explained in more detail.
