Anise origin

Anise ( Pimpinella anisum ) is a plant belonging to the umbellifer family. The seeds of the anise plant are used to flavour dishes. Star anise has a similar flavour to anise, but belongs to a different family. Anise has its origins in the eastern Mediterranean and western Asia. There is evidence that anise was already used by the Egyptians in the year 1500 BC.

Processing to AnisePowder

Anise grows to a height of about 50 cm. After harvesting, After harvesting the aniseed, the seeds are dried in order to concentrate the good qualities and then processed into anise powder. The powder has a brown colour and a sweet smell.

Application of Anise Powder

Anise is widely used as an aromatic herb in the kitchen and in alcoholic beverages, due to its special flavour. Super ingredient for vodka
I love uzo and raki. You can approximate that perfectly by dissolving aniseed powder in a bottle of vodka. The colour will be different, but it really tastes like raki.
